Summer Theatre Arts Rendezvous (STAR) is Perseverance Theatre¹s five-week acting program providing theatrical training and performance opportunities to youth who are excited about theatre. Class sizes are small for personalized instruction.  Acceptance is based on an interview with the program director.

JUNIOR PROGRAM (Ages 10-13)
Each student will explore dramatic principles through workshops andparticipation in one of the following two productions:
 
The Velveteen Rabbit
Story by Margery Williams
Adapted for the stage by Thomas Olson

    "When a child loves you for a long, long time...then you become Real."

In this extraordinary tale of love and devotion, a toy rabbit discovers what it takes to become real.
 
Roald Dahl¹s "Willy Wonka Junior"
A Musical
    “Who can take tomorrow,
    dip it in a dream, 
    separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream? 
    The candyman can.”
Roald Dahl¹s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, which features the songs from the classic family film Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory.

HIGH SCHOOL CONSERVATORY (Ages 14-18)
Students will explore Tlingit Heritage, Performance and Acting through workshops and participation in the High School Conservatory production.
 
Raven Steals The Sun, Moon and the Stars

Students partner with theatre artists from Perseverance Theatre and cultural knowledge bearers from Sealaska Heritage Institute to perform an original play based on a traditional Tlingit story.

Who: Students age 10-13 and 14-18

Performance Location: UAS Noyes Pavilion

Registration: To register call Shona Strauser at 907-364-2421 ext 232 to schedule an appointment.
Cost: $400 if payment is received before May 30, 2008. Tuition following that date is $425.
Payment & Refund Policy: Payment holds the child¹s place in the program.  If payment is received before the appointment and then the child is not admitted, the payment will be refunded in full. If the student is accepted to the program, but withdraws before July 1, 2008, 50% of the tuition payment will be refunded. No refunds thereafter.

PLAYS OUT LOUD
Plays Out Loud meets every third Wednesday of the month in the Arts Center (Old Armory) to read and discuss plays in a supportive environment.  Sign up for next month’s reading.  Send us your play at:  playwright.bo@gmail.com
