IT'S GOING TO BE A BIG SEASON
ANCHORAGE
SEASON
Announcing Perseverance Theatre’s
2012-2013 Anchorage Season!
Perseverance Theatre is coming to Anchorage as we advance our mission of being a professional theatre by and for Alaskans. After 32 years of producing subscription seasons for our Juneau audience, we are seeking to stretch and serve more Alaskans. We believe that here in Alaska, we can build a new vision of what a regional theatre can be.
The lineup for our second season in Anchorage includes the classic American play Of Mice and Men, the World Premiere musical Bigfoot and Other Lost Souls, and the drama Betrayal. All of these offerings will be presented at the Sydney Laurence Theatre at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. Download a subscription form now and save on all three performances!
Of Mice and Men
by John Steinbeck
October 26-November 4, 2012
A love letter to the American West written on a postcard
John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men is the heart-wrenching tale about George and Lennie, an unlikely pair of migrant workers armed with only the dream of a better life and each other. With Lennie’s innocence consistently getting them into trouble George must protect them both as they begin work at a new ranch run by the mean-spirited boss’s son Curly. Their dreams begin to appear possible until Curly’s beautiful and lonely wife changes their lives forever.
Bigfoot and Other Lost Souls: a musical fable
by Mark Hollmann and Adrien Royce
January 25-February 2, 2013
World Premiere Musical Comedy
It’s 1981 and Bernie Bernstein, novice scriptwriter and shoe-size eleven narrow, is broke and brokenhearted. She takes the only job she can get: writing a Bigfoot documentary. The quest launches her into the woods where she meets a fugitive Weatherman, a Bigfoot expert and his wife, a Scottish cable-access camera crew, and the sheriff of Mt. Shasta and her dog. This is a World Premiere musical written by Adrien Royce and Tony Award-winning composer Mark Hollmann.
Betrayal
by Harold Pinter
April 12-21, 2013
Betrayal can only happen if you love
Robert and Jerry are best friends. Robert and Emma are married. Jerry and Emma are lovers. Over nine years, feelings are masked and words are used in a struggle for power as the price of passion is paid and layers of hidden truth are revealed. Nobel Prize-winning author Harold Pinter’s modern classic is an intricate, intimate unveiling of the moments leading to the ultimate break in trust.
