Welcome to the 33rd season at Perseverance Theatre: it's a BIG one! We've got five BIG shows for our subscribers in Juneau. And this year, we welcome Anchorage audiences to Perseverance by offering a two-show introductory subscription!
Subscribing is the best way to join us in producing vibrant Alaskan theatre. As a subscriber, you receive special benefits (discounted tickets, easy ticket exchanges and more). In addition, we value your input and look forward to talking to you over the season about what you like and what we can do differently. You are part of our team.
IN JUNEAU, we have five plays, beginning with a Big Chase: Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps. This thriller uses Hitchcock’s original screenplay, references many of his famous movies, and won multiple Tony Awards. In December, we’ve got a Big Classic: A Christmas Carol. Scrooge, Marley, Bob Cratchit, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future and Tiny Tim are all here to make your holiday season complete. Next, we present an exciting new American writer who’s been receiving rave reviews across the country with Big Origami: Animals out of Paper by Rajiv Joseph.
In March, it’s a Big Dream: A Raisin in the Sun. Lorraine Hansberry’s classic drama tells the story of a family struggling to achieve the dream of owning their own home despite hard times and numerous obstacles, and is as timely today as ever. Our finale is Big Foot: a world-premiere musical, Bigfoot and Other Lost Souls. A sweet and wacky tale of finding important things when and where you least expect to, Bigfoot is based on a true story by Adrien Royce, with music and lyrics by Tony Award-winner Mark Hollmann (Urinetown).
IN ANCHORAGE, we begin in February with Big Friendship: A reprise of our world premiere The Blue Bear, which played to full houses in Juneau. Based on the award-winning memoire by Lynn Schooler, Blue Bear is a heartbreaking portrait of an unusual friendship. In April the Big Dream continues with A Raisin in the Sun, which will transfer directly after its run in Juneau.
If you live in Juneau, welcome back to the theatre you have built over the last 32 years. Your continued patronage and support is what keeps us strong.
If you live in Anchorage, join us in our first season at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. We’re excited to begin sharing our work with you! With your support we can begin building a regional theatre for all of Alaska.
Whether you live in Juneau or Anchorage, you can share in the experience of professional theatre created by and for Alaskans. See you at the theatre!
